The MPN Partner of the Year Awards are presented each year at Microsoft Inspire based on a self-nominating process by partners. This will be the third year that we name an Open Source on Azure Partner of the Year, recognizing an exceptional partner who excels in delivering outstanding open source based solutions on the Microsoft Azure cloud platform.
Support for open source solutions is crucial to enabling a thriving technology ecosystem and in delivering an open cloud platform. Recent announcements, from joining the Linux Foundation to partnering with Red Hat and releasing SQL Server to Linux, are getting partners, both new and existing, excited about the new scenarios we can support for our mutual customers.
These recent announcements are the latest of many investments Microsoft has made over the past several years to make Azure an open and flexible cloud platform, with deep and broad support for open source tools and technologies. In fact, more than one in three Azure virtual machines are Linux today and 60% of the images in the Azure Marketplace are Linux-based.
To apply for this year’s Open Source on Azure Partner of the Year, check out the Microsoft Inspire site, which includes tips and guidelines for completing your nomination. You can also check out the profiles of past winners, OpenSistemas and AlterWay.
We are looking forward to recognizing a partner who is delivering innovative open source solutions in the cloud. Nominations are due April 6th. Any questions? Add to the comments below or email us at opensource@microsoft.com.
