Starting today, customers can deploy on-demand Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) instances from the Azure Marketplace, where now more than 60% of the images are Linux-based. Since last November’s joint Red Hat partnership announcement, customers have been able to migrate their Red Hat subscriptions to Microsoft Azure. Today’s release provides customers with even greater choice and flexibility for their cloud deployments by making RHEL instances available on-demand, within the Azure Marketplace.
The RHEL 6.7 and 7.2 images are now live in all regions (except China and US Government) and can be deployed directly from the Azure Marketplace. Red Hat and Microsoft have worked together to ensure that Red Hat subscriptions purchased through the Azure Marketplace provide unique, integrated subscription support through direct access to the Red Hat customer portal. This provides customers the full breadth of Red Hat enterprise value delivered directly as part of the Azure on-demand experience.
Since the November partnership announcement, we’ve seen many Red Hat on Azure deployments around the world by customers wanting to shift their Red Hat investments to the cloud or embrace hybrid cloud computing. This builds upon the years of success we’ve had with private cloud customers, like Hostway in Korea and FCO (Foreign and Commonwealth Office) IT Services in the UK, who have been using combinations of Hyper-V, Windows Server, and System Center to run and manage Red Hat Enterprise Linux workloads.
Customers can expect the best enterprise-grade support of any public cloud, including a fully integrated support experience with co-located Red Hat and Microsoft support engineers. After all, this partnership is all about a great experience for our customers that helps them easily realize the benefits of the cloud.
In addition to our Red Hat-focused support team, Microsoft is recruiting open source experts around the world, from cloud solution architects to sales and marketing leads, to help our customers move to the cloud. If being part of this growth business sparks your interest, check out these job opportunities and spread the word.
